Audrey Latella

Audrey joined Sheepscot Valley Children’s House in 1996 as an assistant preschool teacher.  Over the years she has assumed increasing levels of responsibility of the school and is currently the Director.  You will often find Audrey in the infant/toddler room as well; she and Kristy Orr started the program in 2014.  While attending the University of Maine she completed the Social Services program with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education.  In 2008 she earned her Certification in Montessori Preschool Education.  Prior to working at SVCH she spent four years as a developmental therapist, assisting children with special needs.

Audrey and her husband, Phil, have two grown children, Crystal and Tony, and reside in Wiscasset.  They enjoy spending time on Sebago Lake in the summer, working in their apple orchard and being with family and friends.

Alicia Skillin

Alicia Skillin began working at Sheepscot Valley Children’s House in September 2016 as an assistant teacher in the toddler room. After graduating from University of Southern Maine, Alicia went on to earn her Infant/Toddler Montessori certification at the Montessori Institute-New England. Prior to joining SVCH she worked at Winfield Children’s House, Meadowbrook Montessori and Cricket Hunt School.

Alicia lives in Richmond with her husband and two children, Owen and Lucas. They love doing things as a family and with friends. They have lots of fun camping during the summer, spending time at the beach and afternoon playground play dates.

Aimee Hayden-Rodrigues

Aimee grew up in central Maine and after several years out and about, returned home to Maine to start a family. She joined SVCH as Lead Preschool and Kindergarten Teacher in 2018. Aimee has spent the last 25 years in both formal and informal education, outdoor education, early childhood and special education—on both coasts! She has worked with all ages but loves the 3–6-year-olds best!

Prior to joining the SVCH team, Aimee was the Natural Science Educator for the Maine Department of Marine Resources for many years, and a special education assistant with students needing 1:1 support in RSU1 and Brunswick schools. In 2000, she graduated from Maine Maritime Academy with a B.S. degree in Ocean Science and decided to focus on marine and outdoor education. Then, after dividing time between outdoor teaching and childcare/preschools, Aimee started studying Early Childhood Development and Education, particularly where nature education and outdoor classrooms are a priority. She loves being able to combine her passions and experiences to make the PreK classroom a fun, engaging, and supportive environment for SVCH students! Aimee currently lives in the Bath area with her family and many pets. You can often find them outside on the trails, at the beach, camping, or on a new road trip!

JILL ROBINSON

Jill has been a part of the Sheepscot Valley Children’s House community since her childhood. Raised in Wiscasset, she and her twin sister Janet and their two older siblings were some of the first students to attend SVCH.

As a teen Jill returned to SVCH where she found her first job as part of the summer staff. After graduating from the University of Southern Maine with a BS in Psychology, she worked as a Behavioral Health Professional with children with special needs for several years. She moved back to Wiscasset in 2012 with her husband and came back to SVCH to assist in the preschool and pre-K classrooms. In 2016 and 2018 her children were born, and she spent the next 7 years as a stay-at-home mom with them. Both of her children attended SVCH for a year in the pre-K and Kindergarten programs and Jill came back to SVCH in 2023 to assist in the preschool and infant programs. In 2024 she started team teaching with her sister Janet in the preschool class.
She enjoys being with her family and friends, volunteering in the community, spending time at camp on Sebec Lake, camping, hiking, going to the beach and all things outdoors.

Josh Higgins

I have lived in Maine all my life. I earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine. My wife and I moved to Boothbay Harbor from Oxford, Maine in 2011 when my wife accepted a job at Boothbay Region High School. My two older daughters, eleven and eight, attended Sheepscot Valley Children’s House, and my son joined the school this year. I began working at SVCH in 2015, took time off to care for my son, and returned in fall 2020. I have been a stay at home parent since 2009, and really enjoy working with young children. I assist in the preK and Kindergarten classroom.

JANET MCCORMICK

Janet has been a part of the Sheepscot Valley Children’s House community since her childhood. Raised in Wiscasset, she and her twin sister Jill and their two older siblings were some of the first students to attend SVCH. As a teen she returned to SVCH, where she found her first job as part of the summer staff which she continued to do for several years. Janet attended USM for three years where she majored in nursing and minored in deaf studies. Although she did not graduate, she took the knowledge she learned and spent many years working in hospice care.

After marrying her husband, Kyle, and having their first daughter, Ruby, Janet and her family returned to Wiscasset where Ruby also attended SVCH for preschool and Kindergarten. The family then bought a house and relocated to Alna. Over the next several years Janet worked full time as a teacher’s assistant and a long-term substitute teacher. In 2019, after the birth of her second daughter, Violet, Janet took four years off to be a stay-at-home mom. Then in December of 2023, Janet returned to SVCH. She is now co-lead teaching with her twin sister in the Preschool classroom.

When she’s not at SVCH, Janet enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She especially loves being outdoors, spending time at the beach, tent camping, canoeing on the sheepscot river, and tending to her flower gardens. Her hobbies also include selling Seint makeup and snuggling her kitty Nala.

JULI DUMAS

My name is Juli Dumas. I am looking forward to an amazing year with your child, filled with learning, growing and fun!

A bit about myself. I attended SVCH many years ago and I have a long background in childcare and education in many settings. I graduated USM in 2006 and graduated from the TEAMS program in 2007, in which I earned a K-8 teaching certificate. I have worked in early education since, in various settings. On a more personal note, I live in Whitefield with my husband and our three children. Though I worked for a time at SVCH when my oldest was a baby, I took a good part of the past ten years off to be at home with my kids. Last January, with my youngest, Molly-Mae, by my side, I returned to SVCH.

I am truly looking forward to getting to know your children and enjoying them each day. Thank you for sharing them with me.

Kristy Orr

Miss Kristy has been part of the SVCH family since 2006, where she was the kindergarten assistant teacher for six years and then assisted in the preschool classroom. In 2014 she helped launch the infant/toddler program.  Born in Massachusetts, Kristy moved to Maine at age 5 and attended Bath schools and went on to the University of Maine in Orono. She worked at the Child Development Center at the Brunswick Naval Air Station for seven years prior to starting a family, when she left the work force to stay home with her kids. She and her husband and have two children, Kennedy and Dylan, both who attended SVCH. She lives in Wiscasset, and enjoys cooking, watching her children play sports, going to the beach and spending time with friends and family.
