Audrey joined Sheepscot Valley Children’s House in 1996 as an assistant preschool teacher. Over the years she has assumed increasing levels of responsibility of the school and is currently the Director. You will often find Audrey in the infant/toddler room as well; she and Kristy Orr started the program in 2014. While attending the University of Maine she completed the Social Services program with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education. In 2008 she earned her Certification in Montessori Preschool Education. Prior to working at SVCH she spent four years as a developmental therapist, assisting children with special needs.
Audrey and her husband, Phil, have two grown children, Crystal and Tony, and reside in Wiscasset. They enjoy spending time on Sebago Lake in the summer, working in their apple orchard and being with family and friends.
Alicia Skillin began working at Sheepscot Valley Children’s House in September 2016 as an assistant teacher in the toddler room. After graduating from University of Southern Maine, Alicia went on to earn her Infant/Toddler Montessori certification at the Montessori Institute-New England. Prior to joining SVCH she worked at Winfield Children’s House, Meadowbrook Montessori and Cricket Hunt School.
Alicia lives in Richmond with her husband and two children, Owen and Lucas. They love doing things as a family and with friends. They have lots of fun camping during the summer, spending time at the beach and afternoon playground play dates.
Miss Kristy has been part of the SVCH family since 2006, where she was the kindergarten assistant teacher for six years and then assisted in the preschool classroom. In 2014 she helped launch the infant/toddler program. Born in Massachusetts, Kristy moved to Maine at age 5 and attended Bath schools and went on to the University of Maine in Orono. She worked at the Child Development Center at the Brunswick Naval Air Station for seven years prior to starting a family, when she left the work force to stay home with her kids. She and her husband and have two children, Kennedy and Dylan, both who attended SVCH. She lives in Wiscasset, and enjoys cooking, watching her children play sports, going to the beach and spending time with friends and family.
Ms. Joan joined SVCH as the Lead Preschool teacher in the Fall of 2020. Originally from Camden, NY, she and her husband Geoff moved to CA and lived there for 24 years. In 2018, she and her family moved from Northern CA to Southport permanently in the summer of 2018 after 18 years of summering there. In 1992, she started her Early Childhood teaching career and has worked in many roles in the field - teacher, program director, director and parent educator. Joan has extensive diverse experience from her work and volunteer experience while living in Silicon Valley. In addition to her teaching roles and director positions, she helped start up two child development centers, one in 1998 called New World CDC, which is a dual immersion Mandarin Chinese/English child development center serving infants to school age. In 2013, she helped start up a larger preschool in San Jose, CA where she worked as the assistant director for 5 years. Joan also volunteered and served as an officer of the PTA of her children’s elementary school as well as having served as an active volunteer and board member of the local Association for the Education of Young Children for 10 years (Peninsula AEYC (now Santa Clara County AEYC)). In October 2018, she acquired her Ed Tech 3 certification and worked as the Boothbay Region Elementary School Library teacher teaching Pk - 5th grade students. In addition to a BA in Psychology, she currently has a conditional PS 081 Pre-k certification and continues to work on the coursework to achieve full certification soon. She is also a board member for the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library and volunteers often at the Southport library.
Joan and her husband Geoff have three young adult sons; Seth, Robbie and Nathan, who are mostly in the Boston area during the school year. Joan loves reading, walking with friends, boating or traveling with her husband as well as listening and dancing to 80’s music. When the boys are home, she loves to hang out with them as well as her two cats, Princess and Oreo.
I have lived in Maine all my life. I earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine. My wife and I moved to Boothbay Harbor from Oxford, Maine in 2011 when my wife accepted a job at Boothbay Region High School. My two older daughters, eleven and eight, attended Sheepscot Valley Children’s House, and my son joined the school this year. I began working at SVCH in 2015, took time off to care for my son, and returned in fall 2020. I have been a stay at home parent since 2009, and really enjoy working with young children. I assist in the preK and Kindergarten classroom.
I grew up in central Maine and after several years out and about, returned home to Maine start a family. I joined SVCH as Lead Preschool & K Teacher in 2018. I have spent the last 20 years in both formal and informal education, outdoor education, and early childhood sectors- as both an educator (Grades PreK-12th) and in various administrative roles, on both coasts of the USA! Prior to coming to SVCH, I was the Natural Science Educator for the Maine Department of Marine Resources for 9.5 years, and Summer Camp Leader for the Maine Maritime Museum for 2. In 2000, I graduated from Maine Maritime Academy with a B.S. degree in Ocean Science, deciding to focus on marine and outdoor education. Then, after dividing my time between outdoor teaching and childcare/preschools, started studying Early Childhood Development and Education. My interests in the last few years have also led me to being trained as a behavioral health professional. After leaving ME-DMR, I worked in a special purpose school as well as traditional local schools as an educator and behavioral support staff. The experiences in that capacity gave me the boost needed to return to the early childhood classroom-and I love being able to combine my passions and experiences to make our classroom a fun, engaging, and supportive environment for SVCH students! We currently live in Bath area and love being outside. You can often find us hiking or at the beach! We have two kids, Olliver and Orelia , 4 cats, 1 dog, and lots of fish!
